PageRank Update

November 7th, 2007

Recently the much awaited PR update happened last Oct 27, 2007. This was the update that lot of webmaster waiting. But I think after the update this is not what they expected. Most of the webmaster was penalized by Google for selling links. From directories and blogs that blatantly selling links for the sake of passing PR. This is the statement that Google gave to webmasters that they should stop selling links. So as a buyer you must be sure that you’re not purchasing links just for PR but more importantly is giving your website an exposure to future readers/subscribers.

After this update I’ve realized one thing about Google PageRank. The PageRank algorithm is still the same according to my calculation. And I’ll give you few tips on how to increase your PageRank. Quality over Quantity. This has been one of the debate thats being talked about on most webmaster forums. They say that if you have high quality and high PageRank backlinks you will get almost the same PageRank. But what I noticed is it’s about balancing your backlinks. You must attain high PR links + quantity, the more the better. But not that much because it might trigger Google for attaining lots of backlinks in short period of time. My former company who was recently banned by Yahoo because they have about 30,000 backlinks submitting to General and Business Directory will increase the number of your backlinks. Right now I’m currently working on a Incorporate Online type of website and I will update you on my observations.
